The Pond Garden has gone through several transformations. It began as a bird bath lying on the ground and was developed into its present form when the rear patio and portal were added to the house in 2005. There are currently many small plants there, each a perennial chosen for its ability to withstand the appetite of rabbits, since the garden is not protected in any way from them. The plantings include:
To the south of the Pond Garden is a grove of five Pinion pines with various cactus plants (New Mexico Rainbow Cactus, Prickley pears and many other small varieties) and five Texas Red Yuccas- Hesperaloe parvifora. There are also five Santa Fe cholla planted to the west of them. The Santa Fe cholla are special in that they are now only found growing wild in Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe, Pojoaque and Chimayo, NM.
